Kedma is a forum for innovative thinking about Jewish culture and arts, and diverse Jewish communities and trends in the United States, Israel, and around the world. “Kedma” comes from the Hebrew root kedem which means both “east” and “forward” – and indeed, the journal aims to embody this progressive and creative thinking.
Kedma’s website is officially updated with all of our issues since Spring 2018! We have published articles ranging from a review of the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia, to a discussion of Woody Allen’s Annie Hall and its portrayal of the American Jewish experience. Kedma Call for Submissions for Spring 2021 Journal
DEADLINE: February 14th
Kedma is Penn’s undergraduate journal on Jewish thought, Jewish culture, and Israel. Kedma provides a forum for Penn students to discuss, debate, and challenge ideas of intellectual and social significance. We accept academic articles (between 2,500 and 5,000 words) using Chicago-style endnote citations. We also accept book reviews and creative pieces such as poetry, short stories, photography, and other works of art. Please submit your work no later than February 14thto kedmajournal@gmail.com.
